Both?
Avatar
It is like reading to another person.
3:21 PM
Maybe narrate why you find the subject interesting.

Yeah it’s pretty much that
3:53 PM
Think about it like reading to yourself out loud. You don’t expect anyone else to care but you (implying that youre not being distracting), but if you had someone next to you and you were reading to them, the experience might be different
3:54 PM
Since youre directing your words not only to you, but to the person as well
3:54 PM
So yeah its pretty much just reading to someone, but in your head

When I listen to music with Tae, I kind of just redirect it towards her. I just kind of have to focus on the music and flip a mental switch where instead of it going to me, it goes through me to her I assume it would be the same with reading/ writing, but then again it's different for everyone (edited)
Avatar
I suppose that makes sense
4:51 PM
My hearing is probably the most focused of my senses, and if I really focus on sound, I can hear with rediculous clarity
4:52 PM
reading on the other hand is.....hard
Avatar
There are many other ways to force. You could, as an example, create your wonderland, starting from scratch, discussing how you would like it to be designed. Perhaps, even doing something like planting a tree together, to allow to slowly grow as time passes. This is just one example.
Avatar
I’m just reading out loud for her. It’s easier that way
Avatar
so could I just listen to music, close my eyes and like.....build something in the wonderland?
5:32 PM
Cause usually I just spawn stuff but I feel like buillding a swingset from 2x4s....cause working with wood is fun 😁 (edited)
Avatar
You sure can.
Avatar
I'mma do that
5:33 PM
should I have Ikari watch or help?
Avatar
Ask her, if she is vocal.
Avatar
She doesn't even let me finish my sentence before she says help...that makes me question the legitimacy but I think it's her
5:35 PM
is it common for tulpas to cut you off mid sentence?
5:35 PM
cause obviously I have the thought already formed so I'm just verbalizing it
Avatar
Not in my experience, no. Of course if you are using words, she would know what you are saying before you finish it.
Avatar
right
Avatar
So what's a good way to make a wl? Cus visualization can be quite difficult for me sometimes
Avatar
If it is bothersome, ask her to wait until you are finished.
5:36 PM
I would suggest practicing visualization.
Avatar
Wonderlands aren't actually important, they're just tools to use when forcing and are entirely optional
Avatar
And what's a good way to do that? Bc i can imagine small stuff like cups and tables, it's making a world out of nothing that's an issue
Avatar
@Wyvern maybe base it off a map you already know?
Avatar
I would keep it very simple at first. One small room.
5:38 PM
An open field.
Avatar
I pulled a map from a game and modified it a little
Avatar
@Felight I really want her to have a home when I'm not focusing on her
Avatar
Not a thing
Avatar
I made a wonderland based off my phone wallpaper
Avatar
Tulpas do not function if they are not being paid attention to
Avatar
I do not think that is a necessary thing. When you are not focusing on her, I do think she ceases.

#Symbolism
5:39 PM
I don't like the mental idea that she simply.....poof gone
5:40 PM
it also helps explain why when I visit the DW she's there
Avatar
The brain can only handle one conscious focus at a time. If a tulpa is not given attention or are not using the brain's capacity to focus/think (ie fronting), they don't do anything, they go inactive
5:41 PM
And it doesn't matter if you like the idea
5:41 PM
It's reality
Avatar
Well what about a place where we can do stuff together?
5:42 PM
That is what a wonderland is for
5:43 PM
It doesn't have to be perfect and vivid, just enough for the two of you to have a nice time together
5:43 PM
Wonderlands aren't really "made"
5:43 PM
They're just visualized
5:43 PM
Takes no time to "make" one
Avatar
Well, you can "make" things in the world, if you would like to, you can sit there, going through the entire process.
Avatar
Ya, i already have some ideas on what I would like to be there, its seeing it and being there that are the issues
Avatar
That's true. But it doesn't take time unless you want it to
Avatar
Yes. I did mean to point out, while you are correct, there is nothing wrong with taking time to create things together.
Avatar
You can either practice visualizing, like Harleen mentioned, or simply not use one, if it's causing you stress. What's important is your tulpa and the time you spend focusing on her, not the imaginary world you do it in
Avatar
So i suppose what I'm asking @Beckett & @Felight is, what are some good techniques to practice visualization?
Avatar
Try coming up with stories in your head
5:47 PM
Or read some books
Avatar
I would close my eyes and try, and just keep visualizing more advanced things, until I can see the entire wonderland I want to create.
Avatar
I've never had this issue though, my host has always had perfect visualization
Avatar
I have no problem visualizing those. I have trouble visualizing without some sort of stimuli
Avatar
We had trouble with it, Apollo.
Avatar
But then, we do not use a wonderland, very often. Only for dates with my host and her beloved.
Avatar
Maybe try listening to music that doesn't have vocals, and let it guide you? Lyra did that with me a few times
5:49 PM
Orchestral pieces or something
Avatar
That could help
Avatar
I suggest Animal Collective for that.
5:50 PM
They are very nice, and have a calm feeling.
5:50 PM
Usually.
Avatar
Ok, I'll look them up Thank you both
Avatar
Well, they do have vocals, but they are easy to ignore.
Avatar
I turn on some chill step and just sort of make mental 3D models of stuff
6:00 PM
you can even try making a mental triangle mesh, if that helps
6:00 PM
then populate it with textures and colors
Avatar
What exactly is the concept of fronting?
Avatar
It is the one who is controlling the body at any given moment.
Avatar
So, @Felight, does that mean that tulpae are, in a sense, constantly popping in and out of existance?
Avatar
They just pop in and out of wakefulness
Avatar
Almost like sleep?
6:32 PM
Just without dreams
Avatar
I would compare it more to thought. When you stop considering the thought, it still is a concept and an idea that exists, it is just an inactive thought.
Avatar
So can she still sense what I'm doing while dormant? Because people's tulpae (from what I've seen, anyway) can just pop in and comment on something at will
6:36 PM
But I could be totally wrong in assuming this (edited)
Avatar
We pop in when something catches our attention, usually if it relates to us
Avatar
where a tulpa goes while not fronting can vary by the system: some go to a wonderland, some are kind of still there able to see/hear what you see/hear, some actually go fully inactive
Avatar
In my own experience, it works more like this: If I see something that Angel is interested in, it will remind me that she is. So, say I see a documentary on serial killers, I will expect Angel to say something, so she is now being thought of. She was not experiencing before, but she has all of my memories of the experiences before that to work off of.
Avatar
Exactly
6:42 PM
No Srn, they don't go to wonderland. That is a myth caused by memory confabulation, which is caused by expectation that something is going on, when it's really not
Avatar
Well, I do agree that is the most likely thing since multitasking, well, you know, not something that really happens, I would not discount it completely, and I would like studies on these claims.
Avatar
So how does parallel processing work then?
Avatar
I do not think it does.
6:45 PM
Confabulation is a memory disturbance in which a person confuses imagined scenarios with actual memories with no intent to deceive. Most cases of confabulation are the result of dementia, brain damage, aneurism or Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome (thiamine deficiency due to alcoho...

I do think that it is most likely that when the tulpa becomes active again, by being given attention, that he or she is expected to have memories of things that did not happen in real time, like they expect, so the memories are created in an instant, and are accepted as true.
Avatar
So, when switching occurs, how does it feel, as a host, to become “inactive”?
Avatar
I would say it feels a bit like before you were born, life continues and you only realize when you come back.
